Embracing Imperfection. Growing in Faith

January 23, 2014

{Experiencing Peace} Embracing God’s Peace

gods peace

We may experience loss- the loss of a job, a friend, a loved one.  We may experience change- a change in location, outlook, or life stage.  Or we may experience an unexpected storm in life that challenges our faith, our hope and our ability to trust God.

Are you in the midst of a storm?  Is it due to a loss or a change?  These storms are hard.   Does it cause you to be fearful?  Does it cause you to feel hopeless?  Does it cause you to live with constant anxiety?  Does it send you into a panic?  Or do you just put it aside and forget about it only to have it blow up in your face some time later?  Storms suck.  They do.  We are currently in one as we deal with the unexpected passing of my father in law.  Even in the midst of these storms, there is someone who can calm them.

[Tweet “No matter what fear, anxiety, or worry we may be facing, God invites us to embrace His peace. “]

In Matthew 8: 23-27, the disciples get into a boat with Jesus and a storm comes.  They frantically run to the snoozing Jesus pleading “Save us! We’re going to drown!” and his reply is “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”  Jesus calms the winds and waves and the disciples stand there in shock and amazement.

Obviously the disciples didn’t quite know who they were dealing with.  This man WAS and IS the Son of God.  If there is one person that we are going to put our trust in, it should be Him.  He can calm the storms in our lives!!

[Tweet “God is the source of certainty in every moment, and God is the one who provides calm in every storm of life. “]

Are you in the midst of a storm?  Is there any way I can pray for you?  Share in the comments or shoot me an email!
