For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:21
I see myself in that verse. Do you? Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you knew God, but your thoughts and your actions didn’t reflect that? The word futile defined means incapable of producing any useful result, pointless. When I was struggling with negative body image, my thoughts were exactly that: futile…pointless. My thoughts were destructive and damaging and took me farther from my Lord.
Jennifer Rothschild calls the place we store our thoughts a “thought closet.” Just as we clothe ourselves from our closets, we clothe ourselves with our thoughts. Some of us have very dark thought closets.
God’s words bring light into our thought closets.
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count. Psalm 40:5
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

He is the Light. His thoughts are hopeful. His thoughts are precious. We need His light in our thought closets. He knows what’s in our thought closets. Nothing is hidden from Him.
He knows if our closets need a makeover…will you allow Him to shine light into your closet? Will you allow him to transform your thoughts?
How is your thought closet looking? Does it need a makeover? Share in the comments!

It certainly is spiritual warfare! Praying that you can focus on things above and not on the worldly things that bring us so much anxiety.

This truly spoke to me today. I hadn’t seen those verses before, and if I had, it’d been awhile… I needed to read them, needed to see them. It’s so awesome to sit back and remember He is GOD – negative thoughts, futile thoughts are pointless. It’s so good to always remember that He is in control…
