Embracing Imperfection. Growing in Faith

July 25, 2014

This is All I have to Give

This is all I have to give

You make plans and they don’t go your way.  You get mad.  You get frustrated.  You don’t understand why all that hard work you put in just got tossed aside.  Or perhaps you are hard on yourself because you want to be that pinterest perfect mother with the immaculate house, the perfect decor, the natural everything, the organic food… You ask yourself why can’t I be more like her?

We all fall short and must rely on God.  Becoming frustrated and mad will completely drain us and make us feel defeated.  Turning our circumstances over to God will right our heart, change the way we look at the situation and help us recognize glimpses of God in the midst of our broken efforts. -Lysa TerKeurst

The reality is that in EVERYTHING we need to rely on God.  When we try to take control, everything seems to fall apart.  When we give our life over to Him, it doesn’t mean that life is going to be perfect, but it does mean that in all situations you can find hope knowing God has a plan.

It comes down to a choice.  You can make the choice to love God, serve God and praise God, no matter what comes your way.  Or you can allow Satan to “steal your outlook and your perspective.”

Bad things are going to happen.  The goin’ may get tough at times.  Jesus said:

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world, you will have trouble.  But take heart, I have overcome the world! –John 16:33

Jesus tells us to have courage.  Struggles are inevitable, but just because we struggle doesn’t mean Jesus has abandoned us.  He will never abandon us.  He has already won the ultimate victory.

We live in a broken world, but we were made for a life of eternity with our Savior.

When you feel like you’ve given all you can to the world sweet momma, give it all to Jesus.

What do you do when things get tough?

What a lovely reminder. It really is hard to let go, but you’re right God has a plan and even though our lives won’t be perfect giving it up to Him is always better than white knuckling our own ideas.

Thank you for reminding us that “interruptions can become opportunities”. It’s good to keep our challenges in perspective.
