At Christmas time, it is easy to focus on getting rather than gifting, especially when you are a child who just can’t wait to tear into the Christmas presents on Christmas morning. Some of us adults are like that too…ahem…
I want my children to learn that the gift of Christmas is not in the presents, but in the presence of Christ in our lives.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
This year I have created something new for you to use with your Elf:
The Elf on the Shelf Gracious Giving Printable Pack!!!
Our world is in much need of kindness, wouldn’t you say? This holiday season, let’s teach our children that Christ calls us to be givers. We are blessed when we bless others. Let’s teach them to be cheerful givers. Not out of obligation, but because the greatest thing we can do in Christ’s name is to love others.
In this pack, you will receive:
- 3 pages of ornaments with service ideas and acts of kindness already created for you
- 1 blank page of ornaments to write your own acts of kindness on (print as many ornaments as you like)

I love the idea of “gracious giving”. A friend recently shared with me that she has everyone in her family choose 3 things to do as a “gfit” to God/Jesus during the holidays. She ties it in with the saying “God’s gift to us is our life, talents, and blessings. Our gift to God is how we choose to use the life, talents and blessings He has given us”. After each person chooses 3 things, they keep those ideas a secret and find a way to do them. Once completed they write down their idea, what they did, and what happened and place it it in gift box under the tree or next to the manger. On Christmas morning they open their gifts and share with the family what they did. We are excited to incorporate this idea into our Christmas morning traditions. Thanks for all the hard work and for your generosity!
